I’m actually surprised they didn’t take money from the FCC auction and either channel share or shut down. However, WJYS is essentially a full power station with programming more typical of a low power station. Outside of the 3 Sinclair diginets they carry, every else is either infomercials, religious or shopping channels. Would have to think the license would be valuable and they can just take the cash and run or just a buy a low power/Class A station. Would a group that has no presence here (Sinclair, Tegna, Gray) be interested or maybe even Weigel or CBS to form a duopoly? Or would buying a station like that be a poor investment since it would be basically building a mainstream operation from scratch?

I wonder if they are holding out for another possibly repack / spectrum sell-off in the future after the ATSC 1.0 => 3.0 transitional period is complete? I can see the hugely powerful CTIA saying "Now that we grabbed 600 MHz, we need some of that 500 MHz real estate too"
Before you know it, OTA TV will be back to channels 2 - 13 like in 1950
