Z, I think you're right. It's been a while since I've been out that far, the closest I've been to Morris lately has been the SW part of Joliet, and the signal was so faint I suspect they were only running 6 watts during the day. |
This happened several times during the late morning/early afternoon, between about 11AM and about 3PM in the summer.
Since it's on 103.1, I'm surprised it's been on this long. If I remember right, they had a CP to move the station to the edge of Bloomington and beam it directly into the metro as a daytimer only.
I guess they changed their mind and got the translator. I'm surprised they didn't hook up the adult standards feed they have on 1480 instead of running the same feed on 3 seperate stations. Especially since 103.1 covers that entire area.
On WSPY 1480, they just got another STA on 1/28/19, which runs until 7/28/19. On the polarazation question, I wanna say it's horizontal.
I saw the setup before at night. They are actually running it off a tower at someone's house on a side street just west of the river. I kid u not.
I gotta say, they are pretty creative! I don't remember the exact address, but, if you wanted to go check it out, I could find it again looking at one of my old paper maps(remember those? lol). I marked it on the map so I could find it again.
Jeez, I was a radio geek...
