Anthony J is absolutely correct. Saturation of revenue has occurred (only so many ads you can run, or sponsor hours etc...). Also, the advertising dollars available is shifting online and other digital avenues. |
Also, Anthony, you made this comment last week in a deep thread and I never answered.
If you're in the biz, like I am, it's easy to get emotional about this situation. Radio used to be all about emotion.
Again, I 199% concur. Radio used to be for the audience, invoking emotion and it was an entertainment medium to make people happy, including the programmers and air staff. It has been whittled down to this. Bankruptcy, failure, least common denominator offerings. For workers, multiple job expectations and less pay. All in the name of pleasing #1, the shareholders. Add in technology evolving and it is a dying medium being compounded by all these actions to make it profitable in the short term. The so called "send off" for WLUP was pathetic at best and shows there is no loyalty in anything involving this medium.
