The previous format in Michigan was Spanish (Brokered) so they probably brought the computer over and are filling time with that library. |
The 640 signal was always listenable here (At least in Wisconsin, into Lake County) during the day. Itís had formats, many brokered including Spanish, Urban AC (Leased by one guy), Talk-Business Talk, and for awhile in the 90s it ran Radio Aahs (Basically what the original Radio Disney was based on) Locally that aired on 930 WAUR.
It has great dial position on 640. If some shows lost their station (Figure if WCGO drops the Brokered Assyrian and Korean programming under new ownership) I can see them jumping to 640. Birachís rates are for the most part the same across the board. $300 an hour. If someone here wants to do a show, by all means...Thatís their business model. Their sister station 1080 WNWI runs mostly Brokered Polish and Polish music to fill time. The Polish radio market has become quite crowded in recent years with the addition of WCPY-WCPQ during the day and now to an extent WPNA-FM (103.1) plus Polnet (WNVR-WRDZ) and their translators (107.1, 104.7)
The Spanish market is also quite crowded. Commercial Spanish (Univision, SBS), plus Brokered Spanish on several of Newswebís stations (Mostly WNDZ and especially WAIT) I donít see WMFN having much success with leasing to Spanish broadcasters in that also crowded market, but you never know.
