You're both spot on! I've been watching this issue since Ajit got control of The FCC. This is not going to be good for anyone except the K-Loves and the cellular and internet monopolies. |
1996 has already gutted so much talent from radio, we're still lucky enough, for the moment, to have some great talent here in Chicago, but, in the not so long run, it will start to erode that as well.
On the cell phone angle, u got it right Z! I had a contract phone for 2 years, once it was up I went strictly pre pay. I'm still saving but, that probably won't last much longer either.
Just look at a company like Tracfone, they used to be just Tracfone, now they own or have a share in almost every pre-paid service out there under a whole umbrella of names.
I know that tech changes, but, look at the TV spectrum, that belongs to the people of this country, yet it's being sold off for billions to the big companies so they can come back and charge us for what is supposed to be "public airwaves"
Commisioner Clyburn has spoke out against the main studio rule, but, her term recently exprired, so there seems to be no discent at all on The FCC.
Not wanting to be political either, I have always felt strongly that it is NEVER good to have one party in control of the entire government, we need debate and input from both sides, on both the local and national level.
