Listening in the car can be a challenge. Short trips can be maddening. A great song is interrupted. Bad timing with 8-minute commercial breaks is a station killer. I think this is why push buttons were invented.
Office listening in the past demanded stations which didn't rock too hard. Forced listening isn't any fun. Many of us like certain types of music.
As so many continue to work at home, radio listening is likely pushed into the background and therefore, long commercial breaks or DJs in love with their voice are tolerated. The general order with music stations is to keep it short and to the point. Otherwise, click, you're tuned out.
To sum it up, one must exercise a lot of patience with radio listening in a vehicle for any length of time.
Commercial free hours are great when you actually can hear the music. It's not always the case. Promos for station events and contests kill the musical journey if you will.
Finally, the new Rolling Stones album. I've heard two or three cuts from it on WXRT. Unless you're a college station, who else would play it in regular rotation in Chicago?
Thank you for reading my memo. Be well.
