100.7 Hip-Hop was almost certain WKKV. Used to be a Top-40 station WRKR that targeted Racine and Kenosha. At some point in the Mid 80s they started focusing on Milwaukee, and it flipped a few times before they settled with Urban as it is today. Back in the Top-40 days, 95.1 WJZQ Kenosha (Now WIIL) was their direct competition. They eventually flipped that station to Rock in 1992 and started targeting Suburban Chicago.
Because the 100.7 tower is in Racine County, it tends to get into Illinois more than the rest of the Milwaukee stations. In all seriousness, 95.1, 96.9 and 100.7 were not intended to be Milwaukee or Chicago stations but that's how it ended up as far as programming goes. Signal on the other hand...
