(For those who reasonably let their subscription to the shell of the former Tribune lapse, "Troopers first responded to crashes on the inbound Kennedy at North at 4:40 a.m. and the outbound lanes at 5:10 a.m., said Trooper Omoayena Williams, an Illinois police spokeswoman. Initially, officials said around 60 vehicles were involved, but later said it was 46, including 3 semis.")
Your point about overnights being pre-recorded is not lost on a single soul in the newsroom. To the point there was a staff wide metting about this problem with the powers that be just a few weeks ago. Our concerns were expressed vividly but to no avail. Corporate wants the resources ($$$) directed elsewhere and that's their perogative.
That being said only 1 1/2 hours of the wee hours of the morning are prerecorded (2 1/2 if you count When Radio Was) and we are still providing a product you can't get anywhere else in this city all those other hours. So yes, I would argue it's still very worthwhile and I can only imagine the holy hell you and all the other posters here would raise on this board if we were to flip to "Musica! Musica! Musica!" anytime soon.
