They USED to be non-live, replayed from 10pm-AM drive.
NOW,They run Old Time Radio at Midnight (which used to have Steven Hass doing traffic on the 8's, even then.)
NOW, 1am repeats at 3am, and 2am repeats at 4am thru 4:30 am, when Bob Conway (in at 10PM-Midnight)
does news to 5AM.
The FIRST live traffic report of the day is at 4:38, then :48, and :58.
OVERNIGHT, there are "traffic reports" (pre-recorded) which are basically lane closurea, exits closed, etc.
I do not listen as I once did. "7 past the hour" vs the proper 2:07 or 3:07 just doesn't make it is my eyes.
One MIGHT remember a porch collapse years ago on a Saturday night/Sun morning, when WBBM then added a reporter overnight. Jackie Swike, I believe, was added then, tho I could be wrong. Jan Coleman was overnights on Saturday & Sunday.
Neil Fiorito began overnights in June 2018.
There are plenty of 24 hour places/cabs/factories in Chicago/suburbs who might like a voice on overnight with a current time check.
There are other ways to "cut costs" so you can add 15 more vice-presidents, deputy assistants.
