The :45 is so out of place. That should be at :40, then run your Dave Ross, etc at :41. Possibly move the :38 long range weather to :45, then you have weather at :15 & :45 long range, with regular "on the 8's." That's weather TEN times an hour!
:03 News start, to me, is nice. You basically have
a news block from :59 (headlines) thru network news, then local news thru :07. So, that's 8 minutes. Two network commercials, obviously run later in hour. Too, the :03 start is not every hour. It night it's :05. THERE IS A NEW STOP at :07.
I'm in the Milwaukee area, and listen at home and in the car. I've noticed and my cousin (NW side of Milwaukee) have noticed a significant drop with the 35000 watt signal vs the old 50000 watt signal. I realize we're not in Chicago, but power lines, etc cause static, drops, etc. The average listener might not be so tolerant!
I wonder whose idea this was. I'm sure they were congratulated beyond belief, but as RYO said, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
The WBBM promos are nice, but to the average listener, this is an ad, or less news content time.
I'll always remember the old quote, possibly in Radio & Records (magazine.) "We run our news between all the ads!" --kinda cute, from a WBBM manager or someone at station.
With ad scheduling, I'll hear quite a few car dealers. Seems they all cancel each other out.
Two that stand out are Frank Manceri and Patrick. It was years ago where every, and I mean every spot was for Patrick. Had a catchy jingle ("Ride ride ride, let it ride" -like BTO song.) (Then) Ken Herrera and co-anchor must have gone nuts, but that was re-enforcement! On the other hand, if there's all these ads, how am I getting the best price?
