Village of Gurnee gets free airtime and is hoping more foot traffic - thus more tax revenue for the mall.
Gurnee Mills hopes to get more foot traffic. Itíll be replacing two stores across from the Ice Rink that seem like they belong in a dead mall.
Alpha Media will give Gurnee Mills all of WIILís live performances from big name artists. Currently all of that is done in their basement.
Alpha Media gets new studios (The Waukegan facility is bad. Flood plain)
I donít think it will increase foot traffic. People go to that part of the mall to play arcade games and play hockey. Not to look at radio stations in the window. This would have been a good idea when the mall opened in 1991. Radio stations in malls were common around that time.
The biggest problems I see are the transmitter sites. Theyíre selling the Kenosha plot for about $500,000. Iím guessing the Waukegan plot will next (If someone wants to buy it) Whoís to say the new owner of that land will not want the tower and the ground radials off of their property? Unless they make some kind of a deal, but at the same time it wonít be their property anymore..
