On 440, a lot of the digital signals are DMR and many of the machines are "linked".
Commonly on 443.300 or somewhere around 433.0250 - 434.9750, you will hear weak signal. It is the most common frequency for HT radios to communicate with the new "digital radio hotspots", allowing people to walk around talk on their HT, while the hotspot picks up the signal and sends it through their computer or router onto a gateway via the internet to other nodes. You will hear either Dstar, Fusion (C4FM) or DMR. The HT will not put out more than 5 watts, but the hotspots are only 10 - 20 mw. Many hams are putting high gain antennas on them. Still, interesting qrp listening if you happen to fall on one.
