I work often in the neighborhood where Mr Biondi lives. I would see him in local shops, eateries and driving around. He has not been spotted in a long while. I asked one of his neighbors and while respecting his privacy, they said he is OK. But the man is 85. There is no graceful or commemorative way to end his career. He is slowing down. He was a wreck on air at the end of his run. Even if his ailments clear up, his ability to be on air going forward are slim to none.
From another poster above, while being sarcastic, they were correct. The lower end of the 25-54 demo has no idea who he is. Or more importantly, they have no connection to him. I was hoping that his health would improve and he would have been perfect doing a 60s/70s specialty show on WLS-FM.
Mr Biondi has given us many years of memories and entertainment. Whether you like him or not, he is a true legend and it is a sad moment where a part, one of the last remaining parts of the old WLS, is fading off into history.
