Chicago has always been a great town for oldies. Think about it. I wasn't born in the 1950s, but I grew up with WIND playing on the kitchen radio, so I am familiar with and love the music of the 50's and 60's. I doubt that I am alone in that. There are plenty of folks born in the 60's who love music that is older than their age would suggest. Back in the 70's, music from the 1920s wouldn't have been successful on the air because it was hard to get a hold of airable copies of recordings from that decade. 50's and 60's music is easy to get a hold of, and there is more demand for it than 30 year old ad buyers can understand. It's going to be another 20 years before 50's and 60's demand dies out. Also, MeTV-FM plays 70s and 80s as well. To my chagrin.
