So now back to the days of "zero talk" or "4 in a row, no talk" stuff.
They say 105.9 Fresh failed because the jocks could only talk 3 times an hour.
"There is no brand loyalty anymore. You leave my station? I hope you end up on one of my other 4."
What is sad, is the other four are not good. They intentionally flank the other station.
I might be nostalgic, but I still check local charts from regional stations.
These stations have jocks, local playlists, KYTZ and KCLD are owned by radio families, not banks, and WUPM in the UP seems nice. Local.
WTYZZ95FM and Jeremy, I appreciate the healthy discussion, and well thought out answers. I'm north of 60, a male and still like the format. Always have.
"You listen to djs and jingles. I hate being in the car with you!" -that from a friend.
Loved the Top40 wars, the production, the flow.
Now the Top40/CHR product is sappy love songs (Ed Sheeran, a ton of female re-treads) and not much else, IMO.
The last song I liked was "Look What You Made Me do." by Taylor Swift. The girls' rock, kinda, and the guys are all sappy. Like an updated "94FM WLAK."
What Top40 now is all the edges have been taken off.
Thank you deregulation.
