"It is considered unneeded because of PPM."
But to go two-three songs and no slogan/nothing?
I guess I'm from a different generation, Calls first, last etc. I'm in a car and I don't know what I'm listening too? This used to be called small town radio and you got better/more advanced/polished with a bigger market.
Listened to Z100 and PLJ last week.
PLJ ran sweepers "95-5" tween songs and in one break the jock, never said the calls. Into a stop set, rambled on 47 seconds, then "more music in 90 seconds on PLJ" OK. Now, 2 mins later (not 90 seconds) they run a 10 second promo on all the music they were going to play. So.... 47 secs into spot, 10 secs after and the hype in between left out over a minute. Times 2 stop sets an hour, add to that the too-long, useless babble that doesn't highlight the station.
Something is missing in both stations. When I can listen to small-medium market stations and hear people who get it, again, something is wrong!
To me, WKHQ or KCLD are good examples of CHR. KCLD Top of hour too long though.
The dumbing down. Millennials attention spans, etc is what has been touted. Record companies, etc.
