There's nothing more JDC wants or needs more than to get his hands on that V103 and / or WGCI money so he's willing to use this short term stunt to prop the numbers up to achieve that goal.
One would assume they're going for cume here so they'll need as many people to sample the station as possible to increase that cume.
If some of those people happen to have V103, WGCI, Power or even B96 PPMs then the short-term stunt will work for 2018 but in 2019? Possible at best.
With that marketing campaign that I'm pretty sure they're planning, the online initiative is going to be very important. This means everything from the searches to the social networking. If Entercom doesn't own those then they're building another company's brand in the online world.
I'd be surprised if they're not already talking to Sal Amato or Armando Rivera.
If they're going to market those call letters in a marketing campaign, those people reached always translate into an uptick in searches online for the product.
The question is what will it take for them to part with the domain, the facebook page, the apps and all the value they created there. Will it be worth it for JDC and Entercom?
Armando Rivera is not in Chicago radio today, this station is right up his alley and I'd imagine the guy would like nothing more than to hand V103 a big bowl of revenge. Could they offer him the job of PD in exchange? Is he already on their radar?
They're pretty quiet over there regarding any of this at WBMX.COM which tells me two things:
1. They're engaged and very aware.
2. They will not go gently into the night, nor should they.
Just one person's opinion who will be tuned into see what happens.
