Then came WNND in 1997. Had a more upbeat presentation with imaging and jingles. WLIT first revamped in 1999 by adding jingles again, talking over the song intros, etc. Then rebranded from “93.9 Lite FM” to “Light Rock 93.9”
Throughout the mid 2000s up until before MyFM they were Mainstream AC back and forth between “93.9 WLIT” “The Lite” “93.9 Lite FM”
MyFM at first was more Hot AC, but WLIT are heritage and calls other stations would use, so they were left there. Parking is another practice used by companies who want to change calls but didn’t want to give the old ones up. In the case of MyFM, their two largest markets with the brand, LA (KBIG) and Chicago (WLIT), they just left the old calls in place.
