Today's top spot could be tomorrow's middle of the pack has ran. No one is invincible. Also, the uptick in ratings might not be HIS strong performance, but others on the dial under performing, which can change by the time I press post.
Kathy has a lot of fans. All it takes is one station to hire her (and she agrees to compensation) then match her with a compatible co host. She does not have to rank #1. Even ranking half way down the ratings, would be enough atrophy to dethrone Eric. He then just might be looking for new digs when WTMX has lost its luster. Outside of AM Drive The MIX isn't breaking records. Right now WTMX is Hubbards revenue leader. Hubbard is also not fully penetrated in radio outlets. (97.1/96.9. 100/3. 101.9) so they are at a disadvantage to be billing the highest because they are 1 station short compared to other clusters (CBS, iHeart etc..)
Then again, Eric might be the next Larry Lujack of Chicago and exit radio graciously on his own terms, like Larry did.
