F*ck me, I'm a Leeds fan, so bring on the abuse ! We are all so close to watching our club, at home, in Chelmsford. We have the best board humanly possible, with quality all the way through, we've all been through a lot in the last decade and seen some real scumbags at this club. In the spirit of fellowship for City, why not draw a line under the unsavoury stuff, and support your club ? I can't make Saturday after all that - daughter's 7th birthday party at 'Wacky Warehouse - but I'll be on the mobile blower to my mate Gary. Looking forward to Wealdstone, though..... Just like to add my comments on the last few days, having only caught up with developments. There's no doubt that some postings in the last week have been inflammatory, malicious, libellous and downright insulting. I understand the reason that we can't see them is because they were so bad that they had to be removed straight away - just look at the problem the moderator of the Conference South board has had in recent weeks with all the Hornchurch stuff - and this clearly a neccessity in todays day and age.
I've touched base with Gary and the only reasons he has stopped posting are the fact that there have been racist, libellous and vicious assaults on individuals (all from anonymous posters) on this board that he was, in most
cases, able to delete almost immediately. Only a handful were directed at Gary but, for example, several of the racist messages would almost certainly have led to further action if the 'injured party' had seen them.
Gary is equally frustrated at the groundswell of opinion that was against the removal of certain messages and that perhaps if others were the target of this abuse, they wouldn't be so quick to condemn the deletions. He's also adamant that he won't return to this messageboard until posters have to register to use it.
Some people are still in the dark ages and, I firmly believe, ARE hiding behind a keyboard with the sole intentions of mischief making. Coupled with personal insults about all and sundry, it appears that it was open season on a few 'high profile figures' for a while. You must understand, the postings were that bad - come on, you know who you are/ we all know the sort of stuff around.
I know Gary very well, and he will do absolutely anything for the sake of this club: his enthusiasm in difficult times is really unbelievable and I personally can't imagine ANYONE who could've stepped into his role(s) in the last few years with the same verve and effort. Peter, too, has served this club in more ways than so many (me included) will ever know, and helped to swell the clubs coffers to a hell of an extent, and these guys really don't deserve the stick they are getting from the ill informed minority. People need to be aware that what they have done was for a VALID reason - these are lifelong fans (Romford doesn't count !) we are talking about.
