My understanding is some spammers simply search the WWW for anything that looks like a valid e-mail address. Possibly they haven't hit the CCFC messageboard, (yet). However, I for one will not be adding my e-mail address on messages. However, I would willingly give it to a moderator in order to register to use the site. Most of you probably know my name by now - not that it helps much, as I'm pretty well unknown in Chelmsford anyway!
: Point taken. However, I've been a regular
: contributor to this messageboard for many
: months now and have ALWAYS provided my e-mail
: address on every posting. As far as I can
: tell, spam has not been generated from this
: source, but more likely from other sites
: visited by myself such as Amazon, Play.com,
: etc. I'm not absolutely certain what
: procedures spammers adopt to build their
: address data bases, but would think that the
: CCFC soapbox would not feature highly on
: their list!
: Anyway, I can understand your argument, but
: feel that it is a great shame to lose the
: likes of Messrs Foster and Mixture from this
: board due solely to the problem of
: identification. I'm just keeping my fingers
: crossed that our board doesn't de-generate to
: the same level as the Ryman forum, with
: almost every posting containing abuse and
: swearing (if you can translate the English
: that is!)

: Balmoral, there is one very good reason not
: to
: print one's e-mail address on a message board
: - not wanting a mountain of spam to arrive
: the next day and every day thereafter. That
: doesn't stop you from identifying yourself,
: though. In fact one's e-mail address may not
: be very indicative of who you are.

: The problem is, derek, that some of the
: postings ARE vicious - and I would hazard a
: guess that some of the more vicious ones are
: deleted before we get to see them. The point
: some of us (the ones that need to grow up),
: are trying to make is that the "common
: denominator" for those that post such
: messages is that most choose to remain
: anonymous. Is it too much to ask that
: everyone states their e-mail address on
: postings - what are those that choose not to,
: afraid of?

: I must say , how childish i think the likes
: of
: mixture , foster , balmoral are being over
: this. this is a forum which is meant to be
: about CCFC , but it seems foster can waffle
: on day after day about anything and
: everything thats ok , but as soon as a not so
: well known person says something its deleted
: and they are all called cowards. my email
: address is on here for everyone to see. now
: grow up boys and leave people to say wat they
: want , as long as its not vicious.
: have a goodday
