Posted by Stephen Selby on 23/11/2004, 14:21:06 Reading everyones points of view on this debate it is clear to see there are two sides to this and every story. Siding with the likes of Foster and Mixture no one likes to see stupid anonymous comments such as the recently debated ones. They are pointless comments that just cause unneccessary aggravation for genuine City supporters who post regularly. There is almost a slow burning fuse in situations like this and I can understand why Gary has come to stop posting. I enjoy reading posts made on this board and long may it continue. However, I agree with Derek Smith to a certain extent that Gary and Peter have been a bit childish about the whole thing. It is clear Gary enjoys posting on the board from the sheer quantity of messages he posts so pulling out altogether seems a bit over the top. At the end of the day if these posters are anonymous (just referring to posters of childish messages) then does anyone value their opinion anyway! I for one don't! Therefore I don't see the need to pull out. These postings do not mean that a person's right to anonymity should be taken away. Not everyone wants to give their e-mail address when making a posting, they may actually enjoy the fact that no one knows who they are and may go on to make a valid point they really believe in. Just because a person has given their identity doesn't mean they will always make points everyone wants to hear. If I had a pound for everytime I thought Peter Foster was an idiot for what he says on this messageboard I would be a millionaire but he is giving his opinion, what he believes in so that is fair enough. I am not being anonymous, but I should be allowed to sit here and say I disagree with what is said. Should anonymous posters not be allowed to say this just because they don't want to give their identity? I don't think they should as long as they are making a valid point, in the right context, for what they believe in then their right to anonymity should be allowed and not decided by certain administrators to the site. That's the beauty of the internet! We all appreciate there are rules in most situations in life but this debate about the messageboard is taking it all a bit too far! I look forward to reading posts from every willing participant in the future!

Just because people do not often post on this forum does not mean they are not always here to keep up to date with the messageboard. I am an example of this. Whether it be general laziness or just not having that much to say I choose not to post on here the majority of the time.
