Posted by Sweden Claret on 22/11/2004, 20:56:16 I'm not sure about the new policy of deleting offensive posts. One thread concerning myself was deleted a few days ago and I believe that was quite correct to do as it involved a copyright infringement and my response that contained language some might regard as offensive. Perhaps the only legitimate reason for deleting posts would be if they contained offensive langauge and then perhaps only the offensive word itself could be deleted. I don't know if that's possible and it would probably involve a whole lot more work for the administrators. Another issue that should perhaps be addressed is the possibility of impersonation, which Peter Foster has been subjected to on at least one occasion. Isn't there a way of becoming a registered user without banning anonymous posters? Then high profile people who are prone to impersonation could register so everyone else would know the post was genuine. Just thought I'd let you people know my thoughts. In the end the most important thing is that the messageboard lives on.

This messageboard is too valuable to be degenerated by anonymous insults and petty squabbling. Please can somebody, anybody, think of what we can do to sort it out. Sorry I haven't got any ideas, only that the possibility of giving your views anonymously should be retained if possible.
