Previous occurences were: 03 May 1939 H Gillingham L 3-5 For the 8th time in their history City scored 3 goals at home in a league game and lost. The first was the 5-3 home defeat by Gillingham mentioned above, the next 6 were all 4-3 home defeats. Today was the 6th time that City had lost a league game 5-3. Before today Leyton had never scored against City. The 3 previous occasions that the clubs had met were: 23 Oct 1954 A FAC W 1-0
