The shelter I go to is also overloaded with kittens. So many, in fact, that some of them are aging out of the kitten cages in the lobby, and have to be moved into rooms with adult cats, with some of the adult cats not super happy about that! Driving them crazy, kinda like Pip with you!
As for Cross Roads, he had some sort of issue since he was a kitten. Walked with his head slightly crooked, so might have had some sort of neurological issue. He was also on the shy side, only recently getting to the point where he'd let me pet him. He was less than 2 years old, as I remember when he first came into the shelter as a kitten.
