Congratulations!! Going natural is a big step. I have been natural for a year and just started the process for locs. I love my natural hair, I can wash it when I want to and I don't have to spending too much time or money on it. Educate yourself and enjoy your new journey. My problem with relaxer's are the unknown chemicals and the risk of those chemicals are not worth it. Find positive people that will support your decision. My husband loves the convience and having weekends free for quality time. It's the best decison I ever made and I have no regrets.
: Hey everyone. I stopped perming my hair about
: nine months ago, and the growth is amazing.
: My hair doesn't shed as much as it used to
: and it just keeps growing. However, for the
: past month I have had it in braids, because
: I knew I would be tempted to perm it if it
: wasn't. I still have a considerable amount
: of perm, I just can't bring myself to cut it
: off. I have been cutting it monthly, but I
: don't believe I will look attractive with
: short hair. Anyway, this past weekend I
: washed it and conditioned it,and I don't
: know what to do. I am contemplating going
: back to relaxers. I am just not confident in
: my appearance anymore, and I don't like not
: feeling like a beautiful black woman. At the
: same time, I don't want to feel like I
: wasted nine months trying to get this thing.
: But I dunno, the color is different and
: everything. I have never colored my hair,
: and I didn't realize how much the relaxers
: had lightened it. But I like the lighter
: color. Anyway, I need some support. I'm in
: college and most of my friends are still
: perming there hair and they look great. My
: mother doesn't want me to grow it out
: anyway, and no one really believes that I
: can do this thing. I want to believe I can,
: but I am starting to see that maybe I can't.
: Thanks for listening.
