What salons were you able to get your hair rodded in D.C.? I live here now and I can't find ANYONE to do it!
: Setting natural hair on perm rods is a great
: way to maintain texture and volume with a
: sassy curl. I'd been paying $50-60 a go at
: the best salons in Miami and Washington, DC.
: Then, I just took notes at the salon, came
: home, and did it myself. If I do say so
: myself..it looks great!
:
: I washed my hair with my usual products (The
: Body Shop's Olive Glossing Shampoo and
: Conditioner.) I put in a liquid Leave-In
: Conditioner (Think Infusium 23), and then
: proceeded.
:
: I parted my hair row by row; sectioning off
: a row about an inch tall at a time. I put
: Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion from root to
: end. I took small sections, combed them out
: and then set them on the rods. For puffy
: ends, I put a little Perm Repair Setting
: Lotion on the ends.
:
: I sat under my portable hood dryer for about
: an hour- until my hair and roots were
: totally dry. I loosened my hair from the
: rods, taking care to maintain the spiral. I
: put hair oil on my hands (African Royal-Hot
: Six) and carefully seperated each curl into
: 2 or 3. You will have perfect ringlets that
: don't look too Shirley Temple. If you've
: separated the curls enough, your hair will
: look styled and full. As it falls, the curls
: will get looser. You'll have a soft curly
: 'fro.
:
: Maintain by sleeping with a silk scarf or
: bonnet. After your shower, fluff, spray a
: little sheen and go.
:
: It'll get you through at least a week, maybe
: two.
: For an idea of what it looks like, think of
: Jill Scott's most recent album. All of those
: fly pictures of her with a hat and pinned up
: are what inspired me.
:
: Visit the site and go to photos- The
: Beautifull Human Photo Shoot.
