The damage is not perm but it will take some time to repair. Probably a few years. You might be able to lossen you curls with a heavy hair butter. One that incorporates shea and cocoa butter. Also try loosely braiding your hair after washing your hair and letting it airdry. your hair will set with a losser curl/wave pattern and be more more manageable.
