After about 25 years of perms I have decided to let it grow natural. I am determined to let it stay natural. However, support for natural hair is almost non existent in my area. I now rotate between braids and pressing my hair. I do this because no stylist I know is committed to helping me maintain my hair. All they do it try to talk me into getting another perm or some type of curl.
I rotate because I have heard that braids are not good for your hair for extended lengths of time. My hair is soft and fine, which makes it even harder to manage naturally. I am not sure that I want locs. In my mind that is also a permanent commitment. What if I don't like them. I am also not sure that I want to cut all of my hair off to start them.
I would like general advice on what to do. I really am at a loss. All I am sure of is that I really do not want another permanent.
