: Hi, I am 28 and now 12 weeks pregnant
: with our first child. I was
: diagnosed with hypermobile type EDS 4
: years ago, although my family doctor
: is now thinking I may actually have
: type 3 as local anisthethcs(sp?) do
: not work on me and never have.
: My problem is that I am experiencing
: a lot of lower back and pelvic girdle
: pain. This is possible harder on my
: husband than me as I am somewhat used
: to being in pain all the time. I
: have a couple of questions for all of
: you: 1) do you have any suggestions
: for controlling pain or inflammation
: while pregnant, and
: 2) I am going for a vaginal birth at
: my doctors suggestion because of poor
: scaring, does anyone have experience
: with vaginal delivery with an
: unstable hip, and EDS?
: Thanks for your help!!
My mother insisted that I get a full girdle complete with stays and a sinch. It was made for pregnancies. Mom said all the women wore them when she was pregnant back in the 50's. I did't know that I had EDS at the time but I was in significant pain - it was remarkable. It really helped to support the baby - who was huge and helped my pain alot. The doctor had never seen one but he gave me a prescription for one and I went to an othotist to be fit for it. Now this was 13 years ago so who knows whats on the market now but you might give it a try.
