I have EDS type 3 and am 9 weeks pregnancy. Thus far my biggest issue has been a vertebrae in my back that won't stay in place. It is the one right above my tailbone. This makes it relatively impossible to move. The way that my hubby typically helps me get it back in isn't possible due to baby. I also have a bad left hip. I have had frequent dislocations with my hip and constant pain. Rice packs are my favorite thing for pain. I make my own rice packs because I go through them quickly. If anyone is interested in one, email me. I make about 15 different kinds.

: Hi Kajsa
:
: I have Eds III and have had it since
: i was very young. My hip became an
: active problem during my first
: pregnancy to the point where I could
: not walk without pain and I
: regularly "slipped" the
: joint nearly daily. My husband
: became accostomed to carrying me
: from the dinner table to bed in the
: evenings because my legs would just
: give out and he worried I would hurt
: myself or the child. I never found
: anything that helped other than
: massage and warm baths to ease the
: pain.
: I have since been through another
: pregnancy and have found that
: delivering in any position besides
: on your back is best. I delivered
: my first child lying on my bad hip
: to give it support ( right side).
: My secong child (3 yrs later) was
: delivered on my hands and knees.
: During neither delivery did I have
: hip dislocation or a lot of pain.
: However it is now 5 yr since first
: pregnancy and 2 since second and I
: have found that my hip has not
: improved at all and that other
: joints are degrading. I lost our
: second child at 8 months pregnant
: due to unknown causes and my
: daughter (who just turned 5) is in
: good health although she shows signs
: of eds III like myself and she is
: asthmatic. But she is very happy
: and the light of my life. I will
: never want to be pregnant again,
: since I will probably not walk after
: another. I hope your pregnancy goes
: well and I would suggest delivering
: in a position that is comfortable
: and supportive of the weak hip
: joints. Good luck and all the best
: to you and your family.
:
: ps. I also have a couple of other
: health issues so please do not think
: that my experience will be yours. It
: will most likely not be.
