  • PDF Grant Guides at a CC

Posted by Ray Arnett on 2/19/2009, 3:51 pm

With the new Grant Guides coming out as a downloadable PDF; are any other CCs purchasing them and making them available to walk-ins? Are we able to make them available on a public workstation?

      Hello Ray,

While I don't have an available list of those CCs that have purchased the PDF versions of the Grant Guides, perhaps some that have will want to chime in.

The Grant Guides (previously available only in print form) are now available electronically as PDFs and can be loaded onto as many terminals as you want within the "four walls" of the collection building (so they have the same restrictions as FDO and GTIO). You could post these on your computer's desktop (or in a folder labeled "Grant Guides") if you prefer. You could also print them out but that may be a little cumbersome and not as environmentally friendly.

Thanks and I hope this helps.

        Hi Kief,
Are the Grant Guides are updated each year? Also, what information would a Grant Guide have that a concise search in FDO wouldn't provide?
        Thanks,

Each annual set of Grant Guides is completely different from the previous year's. So for example if the Guide for Women and Girls had 2007 grants from a particular foundation last year it will have 2008 grants from that foundation this year.

As to the answer to your second question, search strategies are done behind the scenes for the Grant Guides and everything is in one convenient location,in a pdf file, like a "book", which is a format some people prefer to saving or printing search results.
