  • Grants.gov Workshops - How did they go?

Posted by Kate B. on 10/16/2008, 11:21 am

For those of you who have hosted a Webex presentation with Michael Pellegrino from Grants.gov - how did it go? Did you find the technology easy to work with? Are the attendees able to interact with the presenter, or is it more of a one-sided presentation? Did your patrons find it useful?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    Best,
    Kate B.

I would settle for "how do you find a human to speak to at grant.gov?" When I made an e-mail inquiry, I got a canned response to send in an e-mail application, with date, format, etc. I can't answer that until I speak to a human. When I called the 800 number, they told me they didn't deal with presentations, so I sent an e-mail request for a human to speak to. They sent me a response to call the same 800 number that said they didn't know anything. When I e-mailed with that response, they told me to fill out the form. Unless I speak to a human first, I won't host one of these. Why does it have to be this frustrating?

        Linda:

How frustrating! I emailed Michael Pellegrino [michael.pellegrino at hhs.gov] and received a timely reply. I've got a workshop scheduled for March 2009. Try emailing him directly.

          Hello All,

Mike's contact info is online at the HHS directory but here it is:

          Last name Pellegrino

          First name Michael

          Agency OS

          Organization DHHS/OS/ASRT

          Job title Management Analysis Officer

          Room 739F

Duty station Washington District of Columbia

Mail stop 200 Independence Ave. S.W.

          Phone 202 205-1154
          Internet e-mail michael.pellegrino@hhs.gov

I spoke to him on the phone a few times when setting up my program. Unfortunately, I had to postpone the session but he was most helpful and, really, he is a "live person."

          Therese

I just hosted a one hour grants.gov webinar. It went really well - we had lots of questions from the group. I do not know how many trainers they have - we did not have Michael as a trainer. It covered just the basics and gave the nonprofits the steps to follow to get started. It would be nice to have a part two covering searching and applying and I am going to ask about that next. The webinar style training was okay for an hour but would be harder if the program lasted any longer.
