  • Looking for a roommate for Network Days in New York?

Posted by Kief Schladweiler on 8/7/2008, 11:06 am

If you are planning to attend Network Days in New York on October 10 & 11, 2008, and you are looking for a roommate to help defray the cost of a hotel stay, we encourage you to use the CCTalk message board to connect with other supervisors who are also looking for roommates for the conference.

Remember, hotel room rates are not static, they can vary from day to day, depending on how full or empty the hotel is. You should always ask prospective hotels: Is this your cheapest rate? Do you have any business discounts or discounts for AAA or AARP (if appropriate)? Also, try using web sites such as Travelocity.com or Hotels.com.

Also, see our list of nearby hotels at http://ccnet.foundationcenter.org/training/ny_hotels_2008.html.

    We hope this helps.

I won't be in NY for Network Days this year, either, but wanted to tell you all that my husband and I have had very good luck recently using Vacation Rentals by Owner, www.vrbo.com, to find studio apartments. Rates are often lower than hotels and you might get a little more space for your money.

Although I'm not attending this year, I highly recommend the Comfort Inn, Chelsea. It has clean, comfortable, rooms and a friendly staff. There's a large elevator to its 11 floors, and a not fancy, but good, Chinese restaurant on the lobby floor.

        Jeff
