  • Collection blogs?

Posted by Shelly Weiner on 7/22/2007, 3:08 pm

All the blogs I see got me thinking [i know, hard to believe! ].

Has anyone developed a blog for their collection? I'm thinking this would be a relatively easy thing to do to promote the collection, save me time sending out PR etc.

    Any pros/cons?

I've recently started a blog for our collection, Northwest PA's Grant Resource Center. It can be found at http://northwestpagrants.wordpress.com

I just started a blog myself for our nonprofit community. I am hoping it will be a way the nonprofit community can share information, events, tips, etc. as well as informing them of the resources at the library.

I have one for the Grants Information Collection in Madison, WI. I use Blogger. Here's the direct url to the blog: http://grantsinfo.blogspot.com .

Also, I use "Feed Digest" and "Feed Burner" so that the most recent posts can be seen directly from the GIC home page: http://grants.library.wisc.edu and/or users can sign up and get updates by RSS Feed.

So far it's been working wonderfully; I've been at it since May.
