Grants for Individuals

Hi! I am still new at all this, and this one question keeps coming up. How do you answer a patron who is looking for grants to pay his medical bills? I have tried telling them that it really isnt out there because grantmakers tend to give money to other nonprofits rather than individuals, yadda yadda yadda. Does anyone have a good standard answer to help battle all those 'but Matthew Lesko says there are grants for that!'. Thanks a bunch!
