Hi Charlotte, This isn't a precise answer to your question, since I don't carry any business startup books (it's outside of the Nonprofit Resource Center's mission), but...I get calls like that too, and I wonder if, instead of going to all the expense starting a business, there's some other way to go; if maybe the caller could work with Goodwill or another nonprofit to set up a business activity for homebound people. If the caller seems interested in pursuing that direction, he could call his local United Way to see what nonprofits might be suitable.Apart from that, if the caller really wants to start his own for-profit (and not a nonprofit), I refer him to the local office of the Economic Development Department, the Small Business Development Center, and SCORE. I think all three of these sources are available in most communities. See you in Houston, Ramona
