    Other Grants Databases

Posted by Jean Lewis on 12/6/2002, 12:28 pm

Does anybody ever use the Dialog/Knight-Ridder (KR) databases anymore for grant searching? Files 26 and 27, Foundation Directory and Foundation Grants Index, are still online there. Although it seems more practical to subscribe directly to the Foundation Center products, online or CD, I am wondering if anybody every uses the KR products anymore.

Also, KR File 85, formerly Oryx Press' grants database, is still listed there. Anybody use that? It is also now available online, GrantSelect.

Does anybody use any of the following fee-based, Web databases, or anything on CD, excluding government sources and Foundation Center products:
    1.) Oryx Press/Greenwood GrantSelect
2.) Chronicle of Philanthropy Guide to Grants

I am writing up an overview of the current fee-based databases for grantseekers and am eager to receive your input. Many thanks.
