I was interested to view your posting, Joe. We at the Foundation Center have little experinence with the process of applying for government grants, since we receive no government funding ourselves. So I'm hoping someone out there with that kind of experience will respond. One thought I have is to post something similar on PND Talk at http://members4.boardhost.com/PNDtalk/. It gets a broader audience than just our CC supervisors. As to foundation funding, we always tell people that it's best to have the person closest to the actual project prepare the proposal (e.g. "write the grant"). So that would let out a "recognized" grant writer i most instances. In my experience, few nonprofit organizations are big enough to have someone in that role, anyhow, since most folks wear several hats. I'm not sure this helps, and I hope others will have more thoughts on the matter.
