Advice for patrons seeking grants for building "green"?

I've had a recent run of patrons looking for grant money to install solar panels or wind power or organic gardens, etc. at their private homes.
I've told them that foundation grant money is not available to the individual for these kinds of projects. I also say that the incentive for those types of projects comes in the form of tax breaks from the federal government at tax time.
Any other advice I should give or anywhere I should point them? Does anyone have any knowledge to share on the subject?
