Posted by Cecilia As a Caribbean Bahamian I am deeply hurt and insulted by the decision to not host Carifesta. Indeed, this was a time to show off my little country to my cousins in the south. Additionally the work done by the group that went to Trinidad made us look so good, that many were preparing to travel north to be with us. I do not believe nor subscribe to the excuses made as to why we are not hosting. It seems that only events that expose the 'American way of Life' get attention and anything from anywhere else is considered less than. I do hope that a large contingent prepares itself to go to Guyana [who will only have months to prepare] and make sure that The Bahamas stays on the cultural map. Thanks for listening [reading]
