installing 98

Wheni try installing windows 98, starting from a boot disk, when the installation is suppose to start, a message appear
"Standard Mode: fault outside of MS-DOS extender. EC=0000 CS=0367 IP=28D0 AX=0000 BX=07000 CX=0002 DX=05A0 SI=0001 DI=0000 BP=01A0 DS=0277 ES=035F SS=027F SP= 0192"
and then the installation abort.
I had WinXP before but i got to remove it because my computer was too slow.
