Thank you for the memories. My family moved from PA to Guage,KY when I was about 12 years old. I went to school at Rousseau (talk about culture shock)but I loved every day of it. There were 2 grades in each room, pot belly stoves and outhouses. I also has my fisrt taste of sugar cane from a field next to the ballfield. I had JP Deaton as a teacher for 2 or 3 years, he always has been my favorite teacher. I got to go to the "new" Rousseau school for 1 year and then it was on to Little Red and BCHS. We moved back to PA in 1974. I still miss the mountains and the way life was back then. I never did miss the hour plus bus ride to school from Guage though.
