I was born on Meatscaffold at Stevenson 1936. I recall seeing the old stave mill on Quicksand creek or river back in the 40's. I saw it many a time when my father would take me to Jackson on the Conley bus. I don't recall a Quicksand village or town on that river. I guess it was gone before I was born. The old stave mill was popular for many years. Lots of things I don't recall since I never got out Meatscaffold very much. My father was Columbus "Lummie" Back. I love to reminesse on old times too.
