There are several cemeteries in the Canoe area of Breathitt County where members of the Arrowood family are buried. One of the largest is the Louisa Arrowood Cemetery, which is also known as the Nathan L. Arrowood Cemetery, which is located at the head of Canoe. Nathan L. Arrowood (1818-1905) who is recognized as one of the earliest Arrowoods to come to Breathitt Co. is buried here along with his son George Washington (G.W.) Arrowood, who is my great-grandfather. Many other family members are buried here. There is also the Hiram or Vica Lou Arrowood Cemetery which is located on the Buzzard Fork of Canoe. There are several other small cemeteries located in this area with Arrowoods buried in them. Hope you get a chance to visit.
