Hi Todd. Welcome to one of the most interesting & satisfying hobbys on
Earth. There's nothing more refreshing than searching an old park or schoolground on a pleasant cool morning, season dependent, of
course. The sound of a coin signal
brings the anticipation of what it
might be! With the proper digging
tool, the bringing up once more into the light of day a nice coin of the "realm" is one of life's
greatest pleasures!
The Landstar is an excellent choice
for most detecting needs. The main
difference in it from the 505 is the L.S. has manual Ground Balance
control instead of automatic. The
non-motion all metal mode is great for pinpointing & sizing a target. Of course,
the depth indicator is a great help too.
Depending on the ground minerals
(ironized, e.g.) in your area, the
L.S. is very versatile for adjusting to any problem soil. Of
course, Bounty Hunters incorporate
a 3-tone audio ID, which really
helps one to know the probable
target. You can even Gold nugget
hunt with the L.S. in Gold bearing
areas. I believe you'll find the
versatility of the Land Star much
more to your liking than the 505.
Just my opinion of course!
Good Luck and have some fun!
