I went through the same dilemma and decided to go with the walmart brand because the thing has a 5 year warrenty and if u dont like it you can just take it back to walmart no questions asked. This technology of detectors has been around for like 100 years using radio waves, I think the money comes in when you get the special features with programmable relic setting as such. After being in the field about a week now I have come to a decision its actually better to use some kind of mid-level price detector because the hobby itself is the art of distinguishing bleep sounds and pinpointing the target. Once I mastered those things than I move up. What are your suggestions? I live in Texas where you detecting at?
