505 and Nugget/Placer hunting

I live in an area where there are dozens of abandon mines. My wife is set on getting me a detector for Christmas.
Does anyone know if the Bounty Hunter 505 would be a good selection for combing the trailings near these mines? Does is have a ground mineraliztion setting and so forth??
