Thank you Karen!
Rather extraordinary that one man can write two such different books (quality wise) about, kind of, the same subject.
I was hoping to be able to read The Borgias, my interest grew after having seen the series on HBO. But I think I will stick to the de'Medici family for now and will be looking at another book about the Borgias.

: If you mean The Rise and Fall of the House of
: Medici and The Borgias, then firstly, I
: wasn't to impressed with The Borgias. The
: book is mainly a descriptive narrative of
: the rise and fall of the Borgias. It draws
: on primary and secondary sources to present
: events in a standard, chronological layout.
: It doesn't delve much into the sources
: themselves, or present analysis about the
: debates and controversies surrounding the
: Borgias. It is however an easy read.
:
: The Rise and Fall of the House of Medici is
: a excellent look at one of the most famous
: and influential dynasties in European
: history.
:
: Hibbert gives an overview of Medieval
: Florence and then begins with the story of
: Cosimo, the banker, who through his
: connections to the Papacy, becomes a major
: powerbroker in Italian affairs. It ends
: with the passing of Anna Maria and leaves a
: sense of sadness that such a great dynasty
: has reached its end.
:
: Hope this helps.
