I always enjoy Richard's talks, because he hunts down obscure characters. His talk last year (I think) on Prince Albert's stepfather (Alexander von Hanstein)'s family and their ties to Bristol had some resonance for me, because they lived very near to where I was born and later went to boarding school for a short while. The links and coincidences Richard finds are exactly the sort of thing that I enjoy in history - e.g., that Hans Poelzig the expressionist architect was Albert's stepfather's grandson.....
